The Quakers had an outstanding start to their cross country season Tuesday, with both boys and girls teams making a strong showing at their first dual meet. The captains lead the way, with seniors Ben Buroker and Abigail Gerrish distancing themselves from the pack to secure first place in their respective races. The rest of the squad stepped up as well, as the boys team captured a clean 4-0 record and the girls finished 3-1. Standout performers included many new faces, including freshman Thomas Speltz (3rd overall) and sophomore Adrian Shirzadi (5th overall) competing in their first high school meet to great success. The Quakers are especially excited about the girls program, which is shaping up to be the largest and most competitive that is has been in years. With consistently great effort and peer support in practices thus far, the cross country teams are excited to improve and make an even bigger splash in their races to come.
