After losing last Thursday to undefeated Barrington, the girls’ varsity tennis team bounced back on Tuesday with a 5-2 win over North Kingstown, improving the team’s record for the year to 5-3.
At #1 singles, Candice Ballarin remained undefeated (7-0), beating Sarah Paull 6-0, 6-0. Freshmen Kylie Eaton continued her strong rookie season at #2 singles, defeating Valerie Lind 6-1, 6-0. At #3 singles, co-captain Natalie Sepe beat Morgan Leyden-O’Connor 6,4, 6-3. And co-captain Liv Murray closed out the singles sweep, winning 6-2, 6-0 over Aroo Jang.
In doubles, the #1 team of Vibha Kamath and Maddy Gerrish improved their record to 5-1 by beating Emily Daylor and Nicole Tellla 6-3, 6-3. At #2 doubles, Courtney Yang and Frances Abeker lost to Kiley Creed and Maddie Klement in a ten-game pro set 10-4 (the match had been decided before they took the court). And at #3 singles, Emilie Lum and Celia Yang lost to Mia Convessore and Molly Coghlin 6-7 (8-6), 7-6 (7-5) and 10-8 in a third set super tiebreaker.
